The Story Exchange: An Interactive Storytelling Event

The Story Exchange is a guided storytelling experience that leads participants through a sharing of true stories to build meaningful, real-time encounters. Through prompt-based exchanges, participants step into the role of storyteller without the pressure of performing. Enjoy an evening meeting people and discovering connections on a thoughtfully crafted journey where stories light the way.

At Mission Stageworks, we are about generating community through engaging encounters and creative play. For The Story Exchange, we are committed to ensuring our two-hour event is welcoming and accessible for our attendees.

Space & Seating

• Venue exterior: The Fold is a red brick building with a black-trimmed storefront. There is gold lettering above the main entrance, reading "The Laundry."
• All activities will take place at ground level and wheelchair accessible, including any gender bathrooms. The bathrooms are on the same level adjacent to the event gathering space.
• Chairs and couches are arranged in a circle with access in and out of the circle.
• The visual environment will feature soft lighting.
• The auditory environment will include upbeat music that is kept at a low volume before and following the event.

Vibe

• The vibe of the evening is designed to be warm and welcoming.
• We use a guided structure to cultivate a comfortable, supportive participatory experience.
• We offer a 1:1 channel for any private questions you may have.
• Signage will be provided to explain the event alongside a description accessibility considerations.
• In our pursuit of a supportive environment, we will announce our collective working norms and ethical collaboration practices.

• Mission StageWorks is not recording any video or audio at any point.
• We first ask permission to take a photo. Accepting or denying photo consent is part of the process.
• We will ask participants if they wish to be named or identified in the photo.
• We will ask participants if they wish to be shared publicly or not (via the MSW website or any press).
