Magic Soul of Bansuri: A concert by Stephanie Bosch
Stephanie Bosch is among the rare Western musicians who move with equal artistic authority between European art music and Indian classical music. As a flutist, she is distinguished by stylistic depth, refined musical intelligence, and a profound commitment to cultural dialogue through sound.
Her musical education began in Europe, where she studied recorder and baroque traverso in Cologne/Wuppertal and Rotterdam, graduating with a concert diploma with distinction. Alongside this, she pursued intensive studies in historical performance practice. Since 1998, she has devoted herself deeply to Indian classical music, studying in the traditional Guru–Shishya lineage with the legendary bansuri master Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia in India and the Netherlands. Under his personal guidance, she completed many years of rigorous training and was awarded the Master of Performing Arts with highest distinction.
Stephanie Bosch has performed internationally at leading venues including the Berlin Philharmonie, Potsdam Sanssouci, and the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, as well as throughout Europe, India, Israel, Sri Lanka, and Mauritius. Her appearances at major cultural centres, festivals, and broadcast platforms have established her as a respected voice in intercultural music-making.
In addition to her work as a bansuri soloist, she performs on recorder, baroque traverso, and modern flute. Her artistic practice encompasses classical repertoire as well as contemporary and cross‑cultural projects, always marked by clarity, integrity, and expressive depth. She is widely recognised for her ability to unite tradition and innovation, and is frequently described as an “ambassador of Indian classical music” in the West.
