The Selkie myth is a story I remember from my childhood, which was spent in a village on the Northumberland coast. It does feel appropriate to work with this folk tale here by the sea on the magical island of Lindisfarne that is home to so many grey seals, who can often be spotted sunning themselves on the sand flats at low tide. This tale has many layers and the invitation for the day is to use the story as a focus for our activities; a labyrinth walk, drumming, mindful movement, and journalling. We round the day off with an opportunity to share and end with a relaxing and grounding sound bath. There should still be time after we finish, before the tide comes in again, for you to take a walk along the beach and at least dip your toe into the water. The causeway is safe to cross up to 10.30 am and then closed until 3.10pm. Parking is a 10 minute walk from the centre. We will have a 30 minute break at 1pm, so I suggest bringing a packed lunch. Drinks and snacks will be provided. A yoga mat and blanket are recommended for the sound bath, though you can use a chair if you prefer. Please also bring a journal or notebook and a frame drum if you have one, though I do have some to lend, if you let me know ahead of time. Wear comfortable clothes that you can move freely in for the session. If you are planning to go for a walk after, check the forecast and dress for the weather!
