Overview
A breathtaking coastal 5-mile walk around the Holy Island of Lindisfarne. The walk features a mix of sandy beaches, grassy paths and rocky shores. There are some high sand dunes and uneven rocky ground. Marram grass is plentiful and can be sharp. In sunny weather there are few shady places. Walking boots, waterproofs, sun hats and walking poles are recommended.
The walk will finish around 1pm after which there will be the opportunity to further explore the island. Walkers may wish to visit the Lindisfarne Priory, the Castle, Gertrude Jekyll Garden, the Heritage Centre and St Aidan's Winery as well as cafes/restaurants.
Please note the island is accessible via a causeway only during low tide. Walkers will not be able to leave the island before 14.50 as the low tide for crossing the causeway is from 14.50 until 23.35.
