The Seamie O’Dowd band is an electric rock and blues based trio from Sligo comprising Seamie O’Dowd on guitar and vocals, Rory O’Dowd on bass and vocals, and drummer Aaron Mc Gloin. They have become a cohesive unit over the last two years and play regularly in the north west region as well as having become firm favourites for many from their performances at the yearly Rory Gallagher International Tribute Festival in Ballyshannon. They were also invited to and played a well received show at a Rory Gallagher tribute event in France.

Seamie’s history of playing with and forming rock and blues bands goes back a long time, having formed his first rock and blues trio in the mid 1980s. The influence of Rory Gallagher, Thin Lizzy, Horslips and blues rock players such as Stevie Ray Vaughan, Scott Henderson and Poppa Chubby, as well as slide players ranging from Fred Mc Dowell to Gerry Douglas have all had a shaping effect on Seamie’s playing.

Rory O’Dowd started an early apprenticeship playing with Seamie to large audiences at the Rory Gallagher Festival in Ballyshannon. When he’s not pursuing his life as an officially rated surfer and body boarder,he has spent time playing with and forming bands as well as organising gigs and open mic events, building up a solid reputation as an energetic and exciting guitarist and bass player.

Aaron Mc Gloin is fast becoming a go-to drummer for anyone looking for a first class drumming talent with a sharp musical acumen and and engaged interest in everything he plays. Aaron’s energetic and rhythmic drumming style has seen him become one of the most in demand drummers in the north west music scene.
