Three years after our ‘hair-raisingly exciting’ (Evening Standard) memorised, dramatised and musical exploration of Stravinsky’s riotous work, we revive our award-winning production for a one-off London performance.A riot onstage and off: Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring sounded the klaxon for the beginning of modern music. We give the iconic work our Orchestral Theatre treatment, bringing Stravinsky’s epic score to life. In a first-half dramatisation of the unruly creation and premiere of the work, actors join Conductor Nicholas Collon in multifaceted roles as the composer and his collaborators.
This unique living programme note sets the stage for a performance of the whole work entirely from memory, without sheet music, stands or chairs, allowing you to get under the skin of the 20th-century masterpiece. Winner of the 2024 Golden Prague International Television Festival Grand Prix, this production is not one to be missed.
