About this Event
Bournemouth University (BU) is delighted to be hosting a community screening of the BBC‑broadcast documentary The People Vs Climate Change, followed by a panel discussion with experts including the film Executive Producer, Steve Smith. This event will bring together our local community, students, and staff to watch an inspiring film and explore what climate action looks like right here in Dorset.
As Dorset suffers some of its most severe flooding in over a decade due to Storm Chandra in January 2026, climate change has never been more relevant to our community.
More about the film
Originally aired on the BBC, The People Vs Climate Change follows the UK’s first-ever Citizens’ Assembly on climate change, where 108 everyday Brits were asked to help decide how the UK should tackle climate change in a fair way, and reach net zero by 2050. The film captures their personal journeys as they grapple with the science, find their voices, and transform from disengaged citizens into passionate ‘net zero heroes’.
The People Vs Climate Change was co-produced by Picture Zero and Curious Films with support from The BFI Doc Society Climate Story Fund. It was produced in line with BAFTA Albert sustainability standards, the UK’s leading framework for environmentally responsible film and TV production.
