About this Event

The Opus Society is a Black music luxury discovery salon for singers, poets, and melodic storytellers—and the people who find them first.

This is not a loud bar with singing in the corner. This is a wine bar listening room with standards: curated voices, grown energy, and a room that knows how to hold a moment. The Opus Society is designed for music lovers with taste, for new-artist discoverers, for curators, writers, scholars, creatives, and eclectic Black professionals who want a night that feels elevated, intentional, and alive.

What to expect
  • All live. No tracks. Every performer is accompanied by live instrumentation (guitar or piano + percussion). No backing tracks are permitted.
  • Listening culture first. Applause is welcome—cheer when you’re moved. Conversations are held during performances, with intentional breaks built into the program for connection.
  • Dress code: Urban & Sophisticated. Stylish, intentional, date-night approved.
  • A community-forward room where the audience isn’t just watching—everyone is part of the culture. Come to listen. Come to connect. Come with class.

Program
  • 6:00–6:30 PM — First Pour Salon (VIP Mixer)
Early entry for VIP guests + first pour mixer to set the tone before the room fills in.
  • 6:30 PM — House Opens (GA Doors)
  • 7:00–8:00 PM — Open Floor (Walk-In Sign-Up + Live Accompaniment)
Walk-ins may sign up in person. Sign-ups are reviewed on-site to protect the room’s tone and pacing.
  • 8:00–8:30 PM — Social Interval (Wine + Conversation)
A built-in pause for bar support, introductions, and connection—because this is a salon, not a stage rotation.
  • 8:30–9:30 PM — Curated Floor (Pre-Selected Voices)
A more tightly curated run of sets.
  • 9:30–10:00 PM — The Observatory Set (Featured Artist)
A featured, respected performer closes the performance portion with a 30-minute set.
  • 10:00–10:30 PM — Nightcap (Info Exchange + Goodbyes)
Final pour, info exchange, and a clean close.

Tickets
  • Founding Tickets (first 20): $15
  • General Admission (advance): $28
  • Date Night Admission (advance): $60
  • Door / day-of (limited): $33
  • VIP: First Pour Salon Access (priority entry + first pour mixer + priority open mic consideration) — $50

Bar + room culture

This is a wine bar—please plan to support the venue with at least a $15 bar spend per person to help keep The Society open and thriving.
Tips for the band and artists are appreciated.

Performer notes (read before you sign up)
  • A ticket is required to enter and to sign up.
  • All live. No tracks. Acoustic-friendly material only.
  • Singers should be prepared to perform covers and/or jam/freestyle with the live musicians.
  • When you sign up, the curator will review sign-ups to prioritize performers who can show proof (via IG/video) that they can deliver in this format.
  • Performers who take the Open Floor are strongly encouraged to stay and support the Curated Floor. This is a community room—please don’t rotate in and out without supporting the second half of the night.

Guaranteed Stage Time (Limited)

Performers who want guaranteed stage time may purchase a Guaranteed Slot Add-On for +$50 (available at the door, limited quantity). This option is for prepared performers who can work within the Opus Society format (all live, no tracks).

Note: Guaranteed slots still require alignment with the room’s culture and pacing.
