About this Event
This exclusive free screening and discussion event focuses on The Mission, a groundbreaking documentary feature film that captures the work of British-Iraqi nerve surgeon Dr. Mohammad Tahir during his third humanitarian mission to Gaza last year. Amid waves of casualties flooding overwhelmed hospitals, his tireless fight alongside his colleagues to save innocent lives was filmed by two members of his medical team on mobile phones.
This urgent and unflinching documentary stands as a historic testament to human compassion amid profound catastrophe, but also the power of film to capture the raw, brutal reality of conflict even when journalists are prohibited. We’ll be discussing this with Mike Lerner in conversation with Ana Naomi de Sousa, award-winning documentary film-maker whose work includes the Architecture of Violence (2013), Angola - Birth of a Movement (2012), and Hacking Madrid (2015).
Please join us 6-8pm Thursday 21st May at the University of Westminster’s Fyie Hall, Regent Street London. Entrance is free but places are limited and prior registration essential.
