Celebrate Creative Expression, Artistic Community, and the Launch of The Messy Magical Muse Card Deck
Enjoy craft workshop demonstrations, a pop-up art market and exhibition, an interactive "creative adventure," and the chance to connect with local artists and makers, residents, and friends in Amsterdam's quirky Staatsliedenbuurt.
This free-to-enter event, organized by Kissing the Muse Creative Adventures in collaboration with the Stichting Buurtwerkplaatsen and friends, celebrates the launch of The Messy Magical Muse card deck and doubles as a fundraiser and open house for the Neighborhood Workshops Foundation.
Similar to tarot and oracle cards but delightfully different, The Messy Magical Muse deck inspires you to find your own answers through your own creative expressions in collage, mixed media, and expressive writing. Established in 1985 and rooted in the ideals of the squatters movement, Stichting Buurtwerkplaatsen remains an authentic, affordable space where people of all backgrounds can come together to learn and explore creative, technical, and artistic activities.
This event is open to the public. You can drop by anytime between 14:00 and 18:00. A launch party presentation and prize giveaways for The Messy Magical Muse card deck will begin at 16:30. Since you'll be in the neighborhood, don't miss the magical ambiance of the art projections on the water tower by Buurt Kunst Licht from 20:00—22:00 or the after-party at Cafe de Pianist.

14:00-16:00 OPEN HOUSE & FUNDRAISER
• Open Workshops/Demos 14:00-16:00 — Get inspired by live workshop demonstrations (painting/mixed-media, ceramics, glass and glass fusing, jewelry making, screenprinting, woodworking, and metalwork).
• Pop-Up Art Market & Exhibition 14:00-16:00 — Explore works by neighborhood artists and makers in a pop-up art market/exhibition (10% of all sales will go to support the foundation)

• Creative Adventure 14:00-16:00 — Explore the workshops of the Buurtwerkplaatsen to find your muse in this interactive scavenger hunt. Those who complete the challenge (by "kissing" each muse on the map) can enter the raffle for a chance to win prizes.
• Video Projections 14:00-16:00 — Experience the magic of Buurt Kunst Licht (Neighborhood Art Light) in a special indoor presentation
• Art Auction 15:00-16:00 — Organized by members of the Buurtwerkplaatsen, this is your chance to bid on and buy original pieces created in the workshops.
16:00 - 18:00 THE MESSY MAGICAL MUSE LAUNCH PARTY
• Presentation & Performance 16:30 — Get inspired by the story of collaboration and community that sparked The Messy Magical Muse's creativity-inspiring card deck. Plus, spoken word performances by special guests are also on the agenda.
• Creative Adventure Raffle 17:00 — Did you complete the Creative Adventure by "kissing" each muse on the map? Then you'll get a raffle ticket! We'll choose them at random at 17:00. You must be present to win!
• Food & Drink — Light refreshments from the Buurtwerkplaatsen cantina and a special "dolmas and tabouleh" platter will be available for purchase.
• Music by DJ Midas throughout the day

Het Messy Magical Muse Festival of Creativity vindt plaats op 12 oktober 2024 van 14:00 tot 18:00 bij Stichting Buurtwerkplaatsen in de Staatsliedenbuurt, Amsterdam. Georganiseerd door Kissing the Muse Creative Adventures in samenwerking met de Stichting Buurtwerkplaatsen en vrienden, biedt dit vrij-toegankelijke buurtsevenement ondermeer live demonstraties van verchillende workshops, een pop-up kunstmarkt en tentoonstelling, en contact met lokale kunstenaars en makers, buurtbewoners en vrienden. Warwacht een middag vol creatieve inspiratie, verbinding, eten, drinken en plezier.
In de Staatsliedenbuurt leeft de expressieve vrije geest ook 40 jaar na zijn dagen als ‘krakers bolwerk’ nog steeds voort. Een goed voorbeeld hiervan is Stichting Buurtwerkplaatsen welke werd opgericht in 1985 en geworteld is in de idealen van de kraakbeweging. Deze stichting biedt een eigenzinnige, authentieke plek waar volwassenen van alle achtergronden samen kunnen komen om creatieve, technische en artistieke vaardigheden te leren en te verkennen. Tijdens het festival hebben bezoeker de mogelijkheid om via een ‘open dag’ met de activiteiten van Stichting Buurtwerkplaatsen kennis te maken en deze via een inzamelings actie te ondersteunen.
Dit evenement is open voor het publiek. U kunt tussen 14.00 en 18.00 uur langskomen. Een lanceringsfeestpresentatie en prijsuitreikingen voor het kaartspel The Messy Magical Muse beginnen om 16.30 uur. Omdat je toch in de buurt bent, mag je de magische sfeer van de kunstprojecties op de watertoren van BuurtLicht van 20.00 - 22.00 uur of de afterparty bij Café de Pianist niet missen.
Dit evenement is gratis toegankelijk. RSVP's worden gewaardeerd.

• Open Workshops/Demo’s 14:00-16:00 — Laat je inspireren door live demonstraties van workshops (schilderen/mixed-media, keramiek, glas en glas-fusing, sieraden maken, zeefdrukken, houtbewerking en metaalbewerking).
• Pop-Up Kunstmarkt & Tentoonstelling 14:00-16:00 — Ontdek werken van buurtkunstenaars en makers in een pop-up kunstmarkt/tentoonstelling (10% van alle opbrengsten gaat naar de stichting). (Ben je kunstenaar/maker of vrijwilliger en wil je meedoen? Schrijf je hier in.)
• Creatieve Avontuur 14:00-16:00 — Verken de workshops van de Buurtwerkplaatsen en vind jouw muze tijdens deze interactieve speurtocht. Degenen die de uitdaging voltooien (door elke muze op de kaart te "kussen") kunnen meedoen aan de loterij en kans maken op prijzen.
• Videoprojecties 14:00-16:00 — Beleef de magie van Buurt Kunst Licht in een speciale binnenpresentatie.
• Kunstveiling 15:00-16:00 — Georganiseerd door leden van de Buurtwerkplaatsen, dit is jouw kans om te bieden op en originele kunstwerken te kopen die in de workshops zijn gemaakt.
16:00 - 18:00 LANCERINGSPARTY VAN THE MESSY MAGICAL MUSE
• Presentatie & Optreden 16:30 — Laat je inspireren door het verhaal van samenwerking en gemeenschap dat de creativiteit van The Messy Magical Muse-kaartenset aanwakkerde. Plus, er zijn spoken word optredens van speciale gasten op het programma.
• Loterij van het Creatieve Avontuur 17:00 — Heb je het Creatieve Avontuur voltooid door elke muze op de kaart te "kussen"? Dan krijg je een loterijticket! We trekken de winnaars willekeurig om 17:00. Je moet aanwezig zijn om te winnen!
• Eten & Drinken — Er zijn lichte versnaperingen verkrijgbaar in de cantina van de Buurtwerkplaatsen en een speciaal “dolmas en tabouleh” gerecht is te koop.
• Muziek door DJ Midas de hele dag door.
