About this Event
This two-hour walk explores the sites of the grand estates and huge houses (now all gone) that London’s wealthiest industrialists built in early 19th-century rural Hornsey to escape the pollution and overcrowding of the city – and reveals how they made their fortunes and how they spent them. The tour offers a potted history of modern London: the story of industry, the advent of the railways, the growing middle classes, the decline of servitude and the rise of the suburbs – all told through a walk around leafy Crouch End.
Please note Crouch End is hilly and part of the walk follows fairly steep paths - providing stunning views across London.
