About this Event
Te Rākau Ture and Women in Law are ecstatic to have Natalie Coates joining us for a session of The Legal Tea!
We have the privilege of discussing her incredible advocacy work, specifically her Treaty Principles Bill submission and her text "THE RECOGNITION OF TIKANGA IN THE COMMON LAW OF NEW ZEALAND". Natalie is currently a barrister at Thorndon Chambers, and was previously a partner at Kāhui Legal, a leading specialist firm for Māori legal issues. She holds first class honours degrees in Law and Arts (Māori Studies) from the University of Otago and an LLM from Harvard University. She was a Fulbright scholar and was also the recipient of the NZ Law Foundation Ethel Benjamin Scholarship and the Ngārimu VC and 28th (Māori) Battalion Memorial Scholarship Masters Award. We are thrilled to host her alongside Te Rākau Ture!
