HOUSE OF GREEN BRANCHES Born and raised in West Auckland, Max Crook has established himself as a young artist in the local scene as drummer and composer alike. Since age eighteen, he has been a student and regular sideman of the pianist Jonathan Crayford and performs regularly alongside many of the country's top improvisers.
This band is dedicated to Max's folk-inspired compositions and performs music that often reflects a sense of place. Since their formation in 2023, they have performed consistently across Aotearoa continually developing their sound and connection. Equally joyous as it is often melancholic, and frenzied as it is often meditative, this music draws from a rich catalogue of varied taste - taking cues from Modal Jazz, ECM, Contemporary Indie Music and more.
