About this Event
The Legacy Unity Cup 2026 is a community-led event created in honour of Stephen Lawrence’s legacy. Hosted by Freedom Through Fitness CIC in partnership with House of Vox, Art Not Evidence, ZF Legal Consultancy, The Spartan Project, Mary’s Charity, JFJ Foundation, Majestic Care Services and the Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation, the entire day will be covered Complex , the UK's pioneering publisher and culture phenomenon.
Each organisation brings real frontline experience, from mentorship and youth development to legal education, creative expression, and advocacy.
The day centres around a competitive 7-a-side football tournament, with 12 teams competing from group stages through to the finals. Alongside the matches, there will be live spoken word, music, and a unique crossbar challenge (with prizes), plus tropical soul food served on the day by celebrity chef and youth mentor Ash Juggessur. The aim is to keep the energy high while creating space for expression, connection, and community.
April is a time of reflection, but also a reminder that there is still work to be done. This day brings people together through football, culture, and real connection, creating a space where people feel seen, heard, and part of something positive, where prevention happens through presence, not enforcement.
This goes beyond sport.
Throughout the day, there will be opportunities to connect with these organisations, access mentoring, gain legal awareness, and engage in conversations that matter. Not in a forced or formal way, but naturally through shared space and shared experience.
This event acknowledges the realities many communities are facing, including knife crime and inequality, and chooses a different approach. Football brings people in. Culture opens the conversation. Community creates the shift.
