THIS IS A hands-on workshop where adults, involved in early years education, can slow down, get involved in creative PROCESSES, and reconnect with UKU ( CLAY) a magical material that comes straight from Papatūānuku. Through working with UKU, you’ll experience its calming, creative benefits while discovering how powerful it can be for the young children's LEARNING.
IN THIS WORKSHOP you’ll CREATE your own UKU KĀKANO / LARGE DECORATIVE CLAY BEADS, AND SMALL FIGURINES, which will be fired and returned to you and your Centre as a beautiful keepsake of the experience.
MANY Centres, schools and homes THAT PROVIDE CLAY REGULARLY all vouch for clay as being the most popular art material. FOR EXAMPLE, at Villa Sophia, it is the thing most asked for from 2 to 10-year-olds!
Come explore, create, and learn how clay can support wellbeing, how it is an important alternative language for expression AND VEHICLE FOR LEARNING, but most of all, SEE HOW IT CAN BRING JOY in the early years.
