Part of the Surrey Artist Open Studios (SAOS) 2026 - and Shere Open Gardens on 14th June 2026.
We're celebrating the distinctive art, humour and insight of a unique contemporary local artist. You will experience the hugely diverse creative output of John Rich, with more than 200 works on display - including in his studio on the top floor - with wonderful views across the village and the Surrey Hills. Your FREE visit includes the beautiful private garden, designed by the artist's muse, Elizabeth.
SURREY ARTIST'S OPEN STUDIOS (SAOS) takes place across Surrey and nearby villages. Entirely free to attend, the event gives art lovers an opportunity to visit 152 working artists in their creative spaces — from garden/gallery studios and converted barns to home workshops and shared creative hubs. Visitors are welcome to explore, ask questions, and purchase original artwork.
SAOS is one of the largest open studios events in the South East, drawing thousands of visitors each year and celebrating the remarkable depth of artistic talent across the county. Participating artists and makers work across a wide range of disciplines, from painting to photography.
SHERE OPEN GARDENS, on Sunday 14th June, includes more than 15 private gardens in the village, open to the public, each offering its own character and charm – from cottage gardens and wild meadows to sculpted borders and hidden courtyards.

We aim to be open every day from the 6th to the 21st June from 11am to 6pm. With so many open studios and gardens open, you need as much opportunity as possible to see them all!
