Why do we tell stories? What is a story made of? What makes a story memorable and tellable?
This workshop is for any beginner who would like to explore the shapes and meanings of story and learn some simple storytelling skills.
Sally Pomme Clayton (please call her Pomme!) has dedicated her life to stories and the art of storytelling. In this creative workshop she shares her knowledge about why folk and fairytales are so valuable to us today. She will help you discover your own heritage of stories - even if you think you don't have one! And will lead you through some playful, practical and creative tasks exploring: story structure; memory; visualisation and meaning, to help you develop your storytelling skills.
The Flower of Story is the way Pomme describes the living process of storytelling: plant; grow; bloom; scatter. This process keeps stories alive and relevant to each audience, and is how similar stories appear in different parts of the World. The workshop will introduce you to her ideas about the magnificent Flower of Story.

The workshop will take place in the Club Room of The October Gallery (see picture below). This is a lovely library space with a peaceful, story-like atmopshere.
We are very sorry this space is on the second floor of the building and not accessible. We hope to run the workshop again in an accessible space, so please let us know if you would like to attend a future event.
