About this Event
As academic jobs dry up and the humanistic vision of the university comes increasingly under attack, what are the consequences for the future of literary criticism? This conference will bring together scholars, artists and institution builders in the literary world to discuss the future of criticism in a period where traditional cultural institutions are either disappearing or transforming in ways that are not well understood. Are there things that universities today can do to better support critical culture, and how can a new crop of digital book reviews, small magazines, arts nonprofits, and independent presses fill the gap that will inevitably be left by their decline Where can we find grounds for optimism about the next generation of literary institutions?
