About this Event

People, Place and Porosity: Eight Small Acts

Eight objects, eight stories, eight small acts of resilience, connection, magic, resistance and joy. In this talk Katie Etheridge and Simon Persighetti open a series of doors into ways of creatively exploring the deep, fascinating, complex and sometimes contradictory interrelationships between people and places.

Art objects and souvenirs from a selection of Small Acts projects will illustrate eight micro interventions that feed the imagination, spark new connections, invite participation and pose the question; how can small acts make a big difference?

Speakers

With over 25 years experience as artists in the fields of live art, socially engaged practice and site-specific performance, Katie Etheridge & Simon Persighetti have developed a unique collaborative practice that explores the intersection between architecture, community, place and performance. Based in Penryn, Small Acts have worked with people and places locally, nationally and internationally to create live experiences that bring individuals and communities together through participatory artworks and events.

Small Acts projects have been commissioned by partners including Compass Live Art, Creative Peninsula, Art Centre Penryn, National Trust, University of Exeter, Prague Quadrennial, Lancaster Arts, Live Art Development Agency.

The Convivial

The Convivial is an interdisciplinary symposium or talk series based in Penryn. We hope to provide a hospitable space for imagination and creative discourse that is accessible for the community to attend for free or for a donation. We are driven by the desire for open-access knowledge and tools for imagination in a world that desperately needs both. The Convivial wishes to break down institutional walls and share the wisdom within them with those who are best placed to use it – the community itself.
