About the Play

 Come along for a fun, funny, and fast-paced romp through the masterpieces of Jane Austen with The Complete Works of Jane Austen, Abridged. Three nimble actors take on all of Austen’s beloved heroines, friends, and love interests—and her incisive social satire—in just 80 minutes. It is a truth universally acknowledged that an audience in possession of high spirits must be in want of a ticket to this big-hearted comedy that will delight Janeites and newcomers alike.


About the Authors

 Jessica Bedford is a Philadelphia-based actor, director, dramaturg, playwright, andteacher. She has been seen onstage at McCarter Theatre, Walnut Street Theater, LanternTheatre Co, Montgomery Theatre, the Arden, Tiny Dynamite, Theatre Horizon, People'sLight and Theatre Co. and other stages in the Philadelphia area. Recent directing creditsinclude Delaware Shakespeare, the Philadelphia Artists Collective, Act II Playhouse,DeSales University, and the McCarter. As a writer, her works have been produced withPassage Theatre, 1812 Productions, Recognize Theatre, Act II Playhouse, Tiny Dynamite,Villanova University Theatre, Juniper Productions, Riverside Theatre (Iowa), and more. She is a professor of theatre at DeSales University. Villanova University, MA;Queens University, MFA.

Kathryn MacMillan is the Artistic Director of Tiny Dynamite, where The Complete Worksof Jane Austen, Abridged had its world premiere in 2019. She was the production’s firstdirector, earning a Barrymore Award nomination for Excellence in Theatre for BestDirection. KC has directed more than 60 productions, including off-Broadway at TheatreRow; her regional credits include Lantern Theater Company, InterAct Theater,  Delaware Theatre Company, Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival, Shakespeare in Clark Park,  Playhouse on Park, Theatre Horizon, and Inis Nua Theatre Company, where she has served  as Artistic Director since 2022. KC has been nominated for several Barrymore Awards in Theatre Excellence for Outstanding Direction, Outstanding Production, Outstanding Ensemble, and with this team, Outstanding New Play for 2023’s world premiere of Jane Eyre. In 2015, KC was named one of Billy Penn’s Who’s Next: 16 Young Philadelphians Shaping the Arts Scene.

 Charlotte Northeast is a two-time Barrymore Award winner for her work at InterAct and Lantern Theater Company. She is a graduate of Circle in the Square. Credits include Philadelphia Artists’ Collective (PAC), of which she was Artistic Associate; Act II Playhouse; Theatre Exile; Passage Theatre; Azuka; Montgomery Stage; Hedgerow; Orbiter 3 (Barrymore Nomination); Theatre Horizon; Delaware Theatre Company; and the Walnut Street Theatre. She has directed for PAC, InterAct, Curio, Hedgerow, and Philadelphia Young Playwrights. Charlotte is a co-creator and performer of The Complete Works of Jane Austen, Abridged, (Connecticut Critics Award Nomination), and a world premiere solo show, They’ve All Gone & We’ll Go Too which traveled to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2022. Co-creator of You Shouldn’t be Doing What You’re Doing on that Ladder with Tribe of Fools and Citrus Andronicus with PAC (Barrymore Nomination). Together with the Jane Austen writing team, she wrote and played the title role in a new adaptation of Charlotte Brontë’s Jane Eyre (Barrymore Nominations), produced by PAC. Meghan Winch is a Philadelphia-area dramaturg, actor, and playwright. She is the Associate Artistic Director of Tiny Dynamite, where she cowrote The Complete Works of Jane Austen, Abridged and wrote Georgiana Recovered in Time — a play-by-mail in 10 installments set in the world of Pride and Prejudice, co-created with designer Natalia de la Torre. With the Jane Austen, Abridged team, she also cowrote a new adaptation of Jane Eyre for Philadelphia Artists’ Collective (6 Barrymore nominations, including Outstanding Original Production). She has dramaturged more than 40 productions at Lantern Theater Company (resident dramaturg), Inis Nua Theatre Company, Shakespeare in Clark Park, Tiny Dynamite, Hedgerow Theatre, Theatre Horizon, Iron Age, and Beacon Theater. As an actor, she’s appeared at Tiny Dynamite, the Lantern, Shakespeare in Clark Park, and Hedgerow. She earned her MA in Theatre with a focus on dramaturgy at Villanova University.
