About this Event
Welcome to The Center- home to Oakland Unified School District's Central Kitchen, Education Center, and Instructional Garden! Come join us for a day of service at The Center. We'll be beautifying the back of the facility by hand pulling weeds, planting a mix of native plants, as well as sheet mulching to inhibit W**d regrowth, protct our soils, and hold in moisture for the coming warm season. Help us beatify the neighborhood, provide habitat, and attract pollinators! We will start registration and safety talk at 10am. Please arrive on time. The project will officially run from 10:30am-12:30pm.
Stay after volunteering to explore the beautiful Center garden, learn about Harvest of the Month, and check out our Market off West. In addition, during your visit you can pick up a plant from the UC Master Gardeners annual plant sale. The plant sale will run from 10am-2pm. Plants will be for sale, with proceeds supporting the public education programs of the UC Master Gardeners of Alameda County.
Come engage with our green space in a meaningful way that will benefit hundreds of OUSD students who will visit The Center and our surrounding community. Give back to your community and stop by!
