Join SheJumps and KP Dragons for a fun introduction to dragon boating!
This event is open to all women and girls ages 14 years and over - cisgender, transgender, or nonbinary. We welcome all skill and fitness levels. No past experience necessary. Knowing how to swim is not necessary to participate.
Event Details & Schedule
We will meet at the Jack London Aquatic Center (115 Embarcadero, Oakland, CA) in Oakland, CA at 11 AM where we will do introductions and get you familiar with paddling on land. At 11:30 AM you will be paired with experienced team members while you learn to paddle on the 20-person dragon boat through the Oakland Estuary. Instruction will finish at 12:30 PM, followed by an optional lunch social nearby.
What’s Provided
KP Dragons will provide all paddling equipment (personal floatation devices, paddles, and instruction).
What to Bring
- Water bottle
- Hat
- Sunblock
- Ziploc or waterproof bag for your keys and phone
- Clothes that can get wet
Parking & Transit
You are welcome to park in the Aquatic Center parking lot free of charge. If you plan to take BART, the closest station is Lake Merritt. From there it is a 15 minute walk. If taking AC Transit, the closest station is Jack London Square, followed by a 12 minute walk.
Registration & Waivers
The $25 event fee covers all equipment and instruction for the event. During checkout, you will be instructed to complete two waivers, one for SheJumps (online) and one for KP Dragons.
Cancellation Policy
Due to boat capacity, this event is limited to 36 participants. If you are unable to attend after registering, please kindly update your RSVP by April 24, 2026 so we can account for the appropriate number of boats and instructors needed for the event.

More about our guide: KP Dragons is a non-profit dragon boat club formed in 2001, based in Oakland, California. They are comprised of diverse members from all ages and backgrounds who want to have fun, promote a healthy lifestyle, and enjoy getting on the water to paddle.

Waivers & Wellness
All participants must sign the SheJumps Participant Waiver prior to participating in this event.

To prioritize the health of our community, please do not attend a SheJumps event if you are experiencing any cold-like symptoms.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations made 1 day or more in advance of the event date will receive a 100% refund on the ticket price. Optional donations made during registration will not be refunded.
No refunds will be given for cancellations within 24 hours of the event, as this does not give us adequate time to fill the spot.
