A small sensory tasting session exploring body, structure and how different matcha behave in milk-based drinks.
About this Event

At Watashi Tea, we spend our days exploring matcha through ongoing tasting, comparison and experimentation.

Over time, we hope to gradually open up parts of that process and share those sensory explorations with guests.

To celebrate the launch of Watashi Tea, we are opening our very first studio session in London.

The theme of this first session will be body — how different matcha create weight, structure and persistence, especially in milk-based drinks.

This is not a traditional tea ceremony or a “how to make matcha” workshop.

Instead, this session is designed around observation, comparison and conversation.

Together, we will explore how different matcha express themselves through texture, sweetness, structure and milk.

Some matcha feel delicate and fleeting. Others remain vivid and expressive even in lattes.

Through side-by-side tastings, we will slow down and notice those differences together.

Expect a small and intimate session focused on sensory experience rather than expertise.

Whether you are already deep into matcha or simply curious about taste, you are welcome.
The session will include

  • Comparative tastings using carefully selected matcha
  • Guided usucha and milk-based tastings
  • Sensory exploration of body, structure and persistence
  • Conversations around flavour, blending and drink behaviour
  • Tastings of PRESENCE, the inaugural matcha release from Watashi Tea, sourced from Japan

Hosted by Hiromi Shimizu, founder of Watashi Tea.
