If you’ve ever wanted to try a truly unique craft, our Kintsugi workshop is perfect for you!
About this Event

Kintsugi, the art of “golden joinery,” originated in Japan over 600 years ago. Rooted in Wabi-Sabi philosophy, it celebrates the beauty of imperfection, impermanence, and authenticity. Rather than hiding cracks, Kintsugi uses gold and lacquer to transform broken ceramics into unique works of art, honoring the history and story of each piece.

In this three-hour, hands-on workshop, you will learn traditional Kintsugi techniques using modern, food-safe materials to create your own stunning piece.

By the end of the session, you will take home a beautiful art work, perfect as a memento for yourself or a gift for someone special.

The workshop is hosted by Treat Me Right and led by an experienced Kintsugi practitioner with extensive knowledge of repair methods and techniques.

All materials are provided, including one reclaimed stoneware piece or Japanese tea bowl. You are also welcome to bring your own broken piece; we’ll assess it together and repair it if time allows.

Please note:

  • All repaired items and materials are food-safe and biodegradable

What you’ll get:

  • All materials needed for the workshop
  • One piece of reclaimed pottery or ceramic to repair (or bring your own)
  • A glass of prosecco, plus tea and biscuits

Who it’s for:

  • Adults 18 and over plus no previous experience required

Accessibility
The space is wheelchair accessible, and we also aim to support neurodivergent participants by creating a calm, flexible, and predictable environment.

  • Clear written and verbal instructions will be provided for all activities.
  • Workspaces are arranged to reduce sensory overload, and you are welcome to bring items that help you feel comfortable (headphones, fidget tools, glasses etc.).
  • If you have specific needs or questions, please let us know in advance so we can accommodate you.
  • We look forward to sharing the beauty of Kintsugi with everyone, at a pace that works for you.
