Dear Friends, the time and date for Terry's Celebration of Life / Memorial has been set. Please mark your calendars for Saturday, September 13, 2025 - everyone who knew and loved Terry is most welcome to attend. The main Celebration of Life will be at Evergreen Cemetery (4535 N. Main Street, Jacksonville, FL 32206), the site of our annual Pumpkin Run and St. Paddy's Run. As Terry would have wanted, events will not begin until 10:30am, which means we can still attend parkrun that morning (or any race, if you are so inclined), and have plenty of time to head to Evergreen Cemetery afterwards.Friends and family will begin gathering at 10:30am. The service will start at 11:00am until roughly 11:30am, and will include military honors. After the service, all running friends are invited to join in a #MilesAndSmilesForTerry memorial run/walk completing the traditional 5K course around Evergreen. This will be a great way to honor and remember Terry by doing something he dearly loved - running together with friends!
It WILL be absolutely FINE for running friends to wear their running gear at the service, preferably black in color. If you like, please feel free to wear the "Be Like Terry" inscription (completely optional). A limited number of iron-ons might be available or you could make your own by downloading the transparent PNG file from here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/15gRKScFj93ocqWjmkcqZs7HJnVQHYisP/view?usp=sharing , but the design has also been added to https://jaxrun.printful.me/ for convenience, if anyone would like to order one online.
Morning events will be followed by a reception at the Garden Club of Jacksonville (1005 Riverside Avenue, Jacksonville, FL 32204), a more informal get-together at a somewhat smaller scale with snacks and refreshments. Doors open at 1:00 pm and guests may arrive anytime after. The reception will go on until 5:00 pm, and running friends may decide on an impromptu additional run on the Riverwalk or bridges downtown as part of the afternoon gathering - we will make a decision on-location when the time comes. There will be a dedicated parking lot for our use at the Garden Club, which may come in handy while the Riverside Arts Market is still in session.
