Tentative Tenderness - New Manhood Series

This event is part of the New Manhood series, in which we explore the many layers of the male-socialised experience as it is shaped through upbringing, biology, and cultural expectation. To read more about the concept, ideology and choice of words, go to the bottom of this page.
Tenderness is not weakness – it’s courage in its softest form. In this hands-on, heart-open workshop, we’ll explore touch, presence, and energy as tools for connection. With guided practices around consent, awareness, and sensitivity, we’ll learn how to meet ourselves and others with respect and curiosity. Expect moments of stillness, play, and perhaps surprising warmth – because when we remember how to be tender, the world shifts a little.
Tenderness is one of the most courageous expressions anyone can offer. It asks us to soften where we’ve been hardened, to open where we’ve been guarded, and to trust the quiet power of presence over performance. In a world that often equates gentleness with fragility, many of us forget that tenderness is actually one of the most honest forms of strength – a strength that heals, connects, and reveals our deepest humanity.
“Tentative Tenderness” is an experiential workshop that invites you to explore the art of softening in safe, respectful, and grounded ways. Through touch, awareness practices, and relational presence, we’ll learn how to meet ourselves and one another with sensitivity and integrity. This is a space to rediscover the warmth of human connection – the kind that requires no fixing, no proving, only openness and care.
Through guided exercises, reflective movement, and shared exploration, we will explore:
- Soft Strength: Understanding tenderness as a form of courage – a way of being that reflects emotional maturity, not weakness.
- Embodied Presence: Learning to listen through the body, cultivating awareness in our hands, breath, and nervous system.
- Consent and Boundaries: Practicing clear communication around touch and connection, rooted in mutual respect and personal agency.
- Sensitivity and Attunement: Developing the ability to sense, feel, and respond without overwhelm or withdrawal.
Relational Warmth: Rediscovering the ease and comfort of human contact – the kind that nurtures trust, belonging, and emotional safety.
This workshop invites moments of stillness, play, curiosity, and unexpected joy. When we dare to bring softness to ourselves and to each other, something profound shifts – inside us, and in the world around us.
Come gently. Leave more connected, more open, and more attuned to the quiet power of your own tender heart.

ABOUT THE MANHOOD SERIES
My mission is to create spaces where male-born humans can rediscover the parts of themselves they were taught to silence. I believe we all carry deep tenderness, intuition, creativity, desire, grief, humor, and an immense capacity for love. Too often, these qualities stay hidden because of inherited stories about what strength, emotion, and vulnerability are supposed to look like.
I support cis-men and male-born non-binary people in feeling without shame, speaking without fear, listening without defensiveness, and setting boundaries without guilt. I help them embody anger without harm and experience connection without collapsing or hardening. This work is not about perfection, but presence; not about performing strength, but embodying it.
Each workshop in the Manhood series stands on its own, offering a specific entry point into personal growth and embodied connection. Taken together, they form a rich journey – one that moves from brotherhood to embodiment, from communication to compassion, from guardedness to genuine openness.
This is an invitation to grow, to feel, to laugh, and to remember what it means to be fully human – together.
