Webinar Description:
Teaching emotional regulation in early childhood lays the foundation for lifelong success in communication, problem-solving, and self-management. This presentation webinar explores the developmental milestones of emotional recognition and regulation in young children, providing a behavior-analytic perspective on fostering these critical skills. Participants will gain an understanding of the interplay between emotions, feelings, and behaviors, focusing on how to identify and address gaps in emotional regulation. Through evidence-based strategies, the presentation outlines a systematic sequence for teaching emotional regulation, integrating visual supports, modeling, and reinforcement techniques tailored to early learners. Emphasis will be placed on the importance of setting realistic developmental expectations, bridging the gap between abstract emotional concepts and actionable behaviors. Attendees will leave with practical tools to effectively teach young children how to navigate and manage their emotions, promoting resilience and independence within classroom, home, and community settings.

Objectives:
The participants will be able to…
1. Identify developmental expectations in early childhood for emotional recognition and regulation.
2. Analyze the connection between emotions, feelings and behaviors.
3. Examine a sequence for teaching emotional regulation in early learners.
