About this Event
As the Da Vinci Art Alliance Linda Lee Alter Fellow, Batikh Batikh’s founder, Sarah Trad, and local tatreez artist and instructor, Samar Daleh, will be hosting a tatreez circle and workshop on Thursday, October 16th, from 6-8 pm.
Trad’s fellowship at DVAA focuses on spotlighting Levantine and women’s influence on historical to modern craft, including fibers and glassmaking. Trad’s fellowship hosts programming that brings Lebanese and Palestinian contemporary artists to DVAA, who use these craft mediums to combat cultural erasure. Spend the evening learning about the history and practice of Palestinian embroidery (Tatreez) and getting to know other tatreez artists. This is a hybrid workshop so if you already practice tatreez, feel free to bring your personal projects. We will provide instruction, materials and assistance to beginners!
The workshop is FREE to attend and will be hosted at DVAA but it is important to RSVP ahead of time!
