Talisman Making Workshop with Yoga

Come join us for a unique experience at About Balance! In this event, you'll get the chance to create your very own talisman while incorporating yoga practices to enhance its energy. It's a perfect blend of creativity and mindfulness, allowing you to craft a powerful symbol that resonates with your intentions. Don't miss out on this opportunity to explore your creativity and connect with like-minded individuals.

“Art is not just for oneself, not just a marker of one’s understanding. It is also a map for those who follow after us.” Clarissa Pinkola Estes.

What is a Talisman?

In many cultures a Talisman is an object, most commonly a piece of jewellery. It’s believed to have religious or spiritual blessings, intended as a form of personal protection, to heal, aid in fertility, to keep disease and any other danger away, it can also be worn as a good luck charm.

Create your own talisman, for yourself or someone you love, under the guidance of Roxanna Moznabi, a talented and experienced jewellery designer, goldsmith, teacher and reiki practitioner, who will guide you through hand carving techniques, and experimentation with different wax carving tools. You will then have the opportunity to have your talisman cast in silver.

Flo Winterflood will be supporting this craft-learning experience with carefully curated yoga, pranayama and meditative practices designed to help you set your intentions into your talismans, enhance your powers of creativity, keep your mind focused, and your body supple.

After 20 years working with precious materials, Roxy has come to realise that one of the most important materials in jewellery making is the intention set into the process of creating something beautiful. She now sees, and shares her insights, into how jewellery is more than simply decoration, and can become a powerful spiritual tool.

Flo has known Roxy and her beautiful work as a goldsmith since it began 20 years ago. She has had the pleasure of attending Roxy’s talisman making workshop in Birmingham earlier this year and is excited to facilitate Roxy’s sacred jewellery making work with yoga and share this beautiful combination with her Brighton community.

Before the workshop:

You will be provided with mood-boards for inspiration, which you will receive in an email in advance of the workshop. This will allow you to have some time to really think about your design so you can relax, have fun, and be playful with the wax on the day. Feel free to bring along any form of inspiration, such as objects or artwork, you are encouraged to come up with a range of ideas so you can talk them through with Roxanna.
