About this Event
Led by artist and author August Lamm, this ink drawing workshop will centre on the crosshatching technique. Taking inspiration from art historical greats, students will learn the essentials of this unique approach, from shadow-mapping to contour lines and beyond, each producing a still life in ink. This class is suitable for all levels of experience, including beginners. Instruction will be tailored to the individual.
What to expect
This three-hour workshop will run from 3:30-6:30 pm with some short tea breaks. First, August will present historical examples of crosshatching from Rembrandt to Picasso, then she will demonstrate the process of composing, sketching, and inking a crosshatched drawing. Students will work on their own pieces for the rest of the session, and August will provide individual feedback throughout.
