Our right to vote is under a direct attack, and we can’t stay quiet.Recently, the U.S. Supreme Court made a ruling that severely weakens the Voting Rights Act. Because of this, the Governor has called a special session at the state capitol. Their goal? To completely redraw Georgia's voting maps for the 2028 election cycle—and they are doing it in a way that dilutes the voices of minority communities. Let's call it what it is: politicians trying to pick their voters, instead of letting the voters choose their leaders.
This session is happening just two days before Juneteenth. It feels entirely wrong that while our country is getting ready to celebrate freedom, state leaders are sitting inside the Capitol trying to roll back the very voting protections that generations of civil rights leaders fought and bled for. How can we celebrate freedom while our right to equal representation is being chipped away?
Chris is leading a group from CD-11 to stand side-by-side with voting rights advocates and everyday Georgians who want fair maps. We want to make it as easy as possible for everyone in our community to get there. Depending on how many people sign up, we are looking into renting a bus to take us all down to Atlanta together. We will have more details on that soon, but we need to see how much interest we have first! Bring your signs, bring your friends, and let’s make sure they hear us inside the building.
