Take a Hike! ...with(http://...with) Black Philadelphia! Join the crew for a hike along a DIFFERENT ROUTE of Philadelphia’s many trails of Fairmount Park. NO DOGS ARE PERMITTED ON THIS WALK.

9:45 a.m. - Meet and greet in the small parking lot ON Hagys Mill Road (THE MAIN LOT IS CLOSED)

NOTE: This place has a bunch of paths, and it'll be tough to find us once we leave, so please be on time.

We're going to take a hike through this incredible gem! Founded in 1965, the Schuylkill Center is one of the first urban environmental education centers in the country, with 340 acres of fields, forests, ponds, and streams in northwest Philadelphia.

THESE HIKING EVENTS ARE RECURRING BUT ARE CONTINGENT UPON THE WEATHER & MAY BE CANCELED SHOULD THERE BE LIGHTNING.

WARNING: Our hike is not a flat-terrain walk, like the path along Kelly Drive; this is moderate hike. The trails are very hilly and will take us into wooded areas, so I wouldn't recommend this for someone with serious joint problems. I don't want to leave a fallen warrior behind, but I will! I'm just sayin'...

Nature will be all over you by the time we're done. This is a great event to talk and get to know other members. Wear sturdy hiking boots/sneakers or regular sneakers with good traction that you don't mind getting muddy. Also suggested are a bottle of water and a bite to eat, such as a granola bar, fruit, or trail mix. Bug spray, sunscreen, and a hat/scarf are also helpful but not usually necessary. You may just need a light jacket, and be sure to layer, as you will warm up. Bring your EpiPen or inhaler too (better safe than sorry).

Park in the parking lot and be prepared to see some birds and animals as we forget about urban life for a while.

## Getting There

The Schuylkill Center is located in Upper Roxborough, in Northwest Philadelphia, at 8480 Hagy's Mill Road, Philadelphia, PA 19128(https://www.google.com/maps/place/8480+Hagys+Mill+Rd,+Philadelphia,+PA+19128/@40.0601996,-75.2447628,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x89c6b92deb91313f:0x7a9e5b0842bb72e0).
Car
For parking and trail access in the evenings and on Sundays, please park in the Hagy's Mill Parking Lot, between our driveway and Port Royal Ave. on Hagy's Mill Road.
Bus
SEPTA(http://www.septa.org/service/bus/) Buses 9, 27, 35, 61 all stop near the Schuylkill Center. The Visitor Center is about 1 mile from the corner of Ridge Ave and Port Royal Ave where Bus 9 stops.
Train
We are accessible from the Miquon(https://www.google.com/maps/place/Miquon/@40.06025,-75.268041,13z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0x1433a0c848392344!8m2!3d40.0586104!4d-75.2662995?hl=en-US) train station on the Manayunk/Norristown regional rail train line. Our entrance is a short walk south along the Schuylkill River Trail.
