About this Event

ABOUT THE CUISINE

Tajik cuisine is a celebration of family, hospitality, and centuries-old culinary traditions shaped by the Silk Road. Influenced by Uzbek and Central Asian flavours, Tajik dishes are hearty, aromatic, and full of soul. From slow-cooked lamb broths to golden pastries and freshly baked flatbreads, every meal reflects the warmth and generosity of Tajik culture - where food is best shared with family and friends.

ABOUT THE CHEF

A message from chef Akbar:

“Hi, my name is Akbar. I moved to the UK from the historic city of Samarkand in Uzbekistan, with my wife and four children. I am Tajik and I love showcasing our delicious food and culture. Samarkand is a significant centre of Persian culture and a hub for trade along the Silk Road.

I have had a passion for cooking from a young age, as I learnt from my parents and grandparents. Having had many years of experience catering for family, and friends and hosting culinary events I am now confident and enjoy cooking Tajik cuisine.

I used to be a mathematics teacher as well as a chef, so I like both numbers and flavours. I have a Masters degree in mathematics from Samarkand State University, so I have an eye for detail, precision, flavour harmony and creativity. I also enjoy experimenting with different ingredients and techniques to create exquisite flavours, delighting your palates and affording memorable culinary experiences.

Whether solving Mathematical equations or developing recipes, I am dedicated to honing my culinary skills and inspiring you with traditional recipes from my past home in Uzbekistan”.

THE CLASS FORMAT

Our cookery classes are family-style — meaning everyone works together to prepare the dishes as a team.

While you’ll be asked to choose one dish to focus on, you’ll have the opportunity to move around the kitchen, help with other dishes, and learn from each recipe. It’s a fun, social, and collaborative way to cook! At the end of the class, you’ll sit down with the chef, class facilitator and volunteers to enjoy the delicious meal you’ve created together.

REMINDERS

We’re excited to have you in the class! Please take note of a few final reminders:

  • Please see our refund/cancellation policy: Migrateful Ticket Refund Policy | Migrateful
  • Please see our allergens policy here: Food and Allergens Policy
  • We recommend using a debit or credit card to pay (PayPal can take up to 48 hours to confirm).
