About this Event
🚀 Experience literature like you’ve never heard it before! As part of Georgia Tech’s German course “Einführung in die Literatur”, we invite you to a special reading with acclaimed Swiss author Dominic Oppliger.
Only a handful of authors worldwide write in Swiss German – and Oppliger is one of them. His novel Giftland (2023) is a fast-paced, poetic road story about a Swiss band touring across America. At Georgia Tech, he will bring the text to life in Swiss German, accompanied by projected German and English translations.
The program also shines a spotlight on Marina Rumjanzewa’s Schwiizerdütsch (2023), offering an outsider’s take on this fascinating language and its role within Switzerland’s multilingual culture. A lively Q&A and discussion with the author will follow.
