🇨đź‡âś¨ Dive deeper into Switzerland’s unique linguistic landscape! As part of Georgia Tech’s German Grammar course, students are invited to a special workshop on Swiss German (SchwyzerdĂĽtsch) with acclaimed Swiss author Dominic Oppliger.
The program begins with a brief introduction to Switzerland and its rich language diversity by the Consulate General of Switzerland in Atlanta, followed by a fun crash course in Swiss German. Dominic Oppliger will then present excerpts from his novel Giftland (2023) in Swiss German, with projected German and English translations.
The session also draws on Marina Rumjanzewa’s Schwiizerdütsch (2023), offering an outsider’s perspective on Swiss German and highlighting the language’s unique role and function in Switzerland’s multilingual society. A Q&A and discussion with the author will close the workshop.
