Description:
Surviving The Moments is a suicide awareness and prevention initiative within The CCCH Approach. In this webinar, Christopher C. Harris will support attendees' increased understanding and awareness of the origin and impact of suicidology in contemporary America. Attendees will also learn and apply an empirical-based suicide risk assessment scale to support diagnosis and best-practices for person-centered interventions for individuals and families impacted by the reality of suicide.
Objectives:
As a result of this course, participants will be prepared to:
• Increase cognitive, affective, and behavioral boundary setting and coping skills to reduce negative impact of secondary trauma of suicide
• Identify 3 types of suicidal tendencies to support assessment of risk level and best practices for person centered interventions.
• Recognize warning signs for individuals that are high risk for suicidal behaviors

Instructor: Christopher Harris, LPC
Christopher Harris is a Licensed Professional Counselor from The City of Detroit. Chris earned a BA in Integrative Studies in 2012 and MA in Counseling in 2015 from Oakland University in Rochester, MI. He was also one semester short of completing a BSW in Social Work at Wayne State University. Christopher has worked, interned, and volunteered throughout the Tri-County area of Michigan in diverse settings such as the Macomb County J*il and Oakland County Court; the Boys & Girls Club in Lake Orion and Northpointe Academy in Highland Park; the Center for Multicultural Initiatives at Oakland University in Rochester, MI and C.A.R.E. of Southeastern Michigan in Fraser, MI. Christopher owns and operates CCHARRIS Professional Counseling Services where he continues to offer individual and family counseling services. Christopher also provides continuing education and professional development trainings, community development classes, group support circles, and mental health presentations designed to educate and empower every participant served.
