Join us for a deeply nourishing afternoon of mindfulness and healing at Quang Minh Temple! 🧘♂️ 2:00 - 3:00 PM | Meditation and Sound Bath with Gratt Woodson & Augusta Wheeler
We’re honored to have Gratt Woodson, a longtime Buddhist practitioner and retired MD, lead this special session. His class will consist of:
🔹 First 20-minute session: Mindfulness meditation, cultivating present-moment awareness.
🔹 Break
🔹 Second 20-minute session: Gratt will lead the meditation, complemented by a sound bath guided by Augusta Wheeler, a Grant Park neighbor, yogi, and mom. Through the soothing vibrations of sound, this session will help the mind settle into deeper stillness and relaxation.
🔹 Q&A: After meditation, Gratt will answer questions about the health benefits of meditation, sharing insights from both scientific and Buddhist perspectives on how mindfulness supports well-being.
📽️ 1:30 - 2:00 PM | Film Screening: The Art of Healing.
Before the meditation session, we invite you to a special viewing of The Art of Healing. This film explores the intersection of art, mindfulness, and spiritual healing, offering a unique way to practice the fourth foundation of mindfulness—mindfulness of Dharma. By immersing ourselves in this viewing, we engage with meditation beyond the cushion, deepening our awareness through storytelling and insight.
The film follows the intricate seven-day creation of a Medicine Buddha sand mandala, revealing the profound beauty of Tibetan culture and the transformative power of healing through art. Rooted in Buddhist teachings, it explores themes of impermanence, non-attachment, and compassion, offering a reflective journey that transcends cultural boundaries and deepens our connection to mindfulness.
📿 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM | Vietnamese Chanting & Community Lunch
All are welcome to join us earlier in the day for **Vietnamese chanting, followed by a shared lunch—an opportunity to connect with the community and nourish body and soul.
