MARCH 9 "Art of Paper" Children's Class Series SESSION 2

NOTE: This class is for CHILDREN ONLY Ages 9-12

Ages: 9-12

Students will explore paper engineering and 3D construction while creating their own functional decorative night lamps. This series emphasizes creativity, precision, and problem-solving, allowing students to build unique illuminated sculptures.

Skills Developed:

• Sketching and drawing design concepts
• Cutting, scoring, and folding techniques
• Layering lights for depth and illumination
• 3D composition and assembly

Class Breakdown:

• Session 1 - MARCH 2:
  Students will collaborate with the instructor to build a basic prototype of the night lamp and learn how to layer lights.
• Session 2 - MARCH 9:
  Students will develop a more complex 3D paper lamp using geometric forms. The finished lamps can either stand on a desk or hang on a wall.

Class Structure:

Greeting students/introduction/making a short presentation (PPT), explaining our project; demonstrating materials; starting to work on the project.

During the class we instruct, organize work, demonstrate possible variants of materials usage, help with design, etc.

In the last 15 min, we take photos of the objects created by students; talk about their designs.
