Founded and led by Mexican-born vocalist and guitarist Jay Vazquez — often referred to by the Toronto Sun as the “Canadian Carlos Santana” — the band is renowned for its musical excellence, charisma, and refined stage presence.
A truly multicultural ensemble, Sugar Heat brings together performers with roots in Mexico, Portugal, Trinidad and Tobago, and Canada’s West Coast. This diversity shapes a rich and sophisticated sound that blends contemporary Latin pop with timeless classics.
The repertoire spans beloved Latino-American icons such as Gloria Estefan, Marc Anthony, Ricky Martin, Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, and Pitbull, while also honouring legendary artists including Celia Cruz, Carlos Santana, and Selena, alongside select American favourites reimagined through an elegant Latin lens.
