Join us in the Goethe-Institut Irland on the 27th of June for the Irish premiere of Dear Quantum by Studio Quantum artist-in-residence Edy Fung and musician Muiredach O'Riain.
Dear Quantum is a hybrid of sound composition, improvisation, transmission art, and spoken word, that Edy developed both during her residency in San Francisco and in collaboration with O’Riain. The piece was first performed at Berlin’s renowned CTM Festival in February 2024.
As part of her Studio Quantum residency, Edy explored how randomness appears in quantum systems, delving into the nature of observed and unobserved reality. Over the last few months, Edy has drawn further inspiration from Orpheus’ Underworld and the Pythagorean Universe, leading to an examination of how laws of science and music originated in classical culture. The result? A sound piece exploring how the cosmos manifests itself via distinct classical and quantum information, refracted and diffracted through current tools and technology into our human experience.
