About this Event
In her show Stitched Village, Van Horne breathes new life into materials from the past through a process of deconstruction and reassembly. Vintage papers, photographs, fabrics & matchbooks are cut apart, layered, stitched, & fused together to form richly textured surfaces that echo the passage of time. Each piece, quilt-like in its construction, reveals visible stitches and raw edges—marks of both making & memory—woven into new narratives that honor & transform the remnants of what once was.
Since childhood, Laura has been passionate about art. Her body of work includes a wide range of styles & mediums, including encaustic, acrylic, watercolor, ink, resin, paper & textiles. Many of her pieces are mixed media & include found organic objects, textiles, pages from books, or items from flea markets.
