We'll be featuring Salsa, not officially a ballroom dance but closely related to Mambo, which is a ballroom dance.Salsa has more practitioners worldwide than any other dance. What makes Salsa so enjoyable? Well, Salsa is distinguished by its freedom of expression, how well it allows improvisation and the relaxed lead and follow between partners. This is a dance that all ballroom dancers should know something about because it's a great example of letting go of any worries about figures, frame and structure so you can just enjoy the music and the moment. This is fast-tempo latin party music and, boy, is it fun if you keep just a few basic principles in mind.
Learning about those principles is crucial and that's why we've invited Darryl and Susy Zeldin, two of the Triangle's most well known Salsa teachers, to teach a beginner lesson for us at the start of the dance. if you stay until the mid-point of the dance you can enjoy their professional-level demonstration of Salsa, which is quite the spectacle.
