About this Event
This reflective service will bring together bereavement services, national and community leaders, dignitaries, public figures, and anyone who wants to see bereaved people receive the help they need. Through music, readings and prayer, we will honour lives lost, acknowledge the impact of grief and stand together in support and understanding.
Over the past decade, AtaLoss has focused on:
- Signposting to support through AtaLoss.org
- Equipping churches and communities to run The Bereavement Journey® peer group support programme
- Raising awareness of bereavement, including serving as Secretariat to the APPG for Grief Support and the Impact of Death on Society
The evening will also mark the launch of a new annual Bereavement Matters season, a new national awareness campaign running throughout November and December. This initiative will enhance the grief and bereavement awareness weeks, themes and opportunities throughout the period, recognising the importance of responding well in our society, by:
- Shining a light on the realities of grief through real stories of loss, highlighting the wide-ranging impact of death on individuals and communities
- Amplifying key moments, including the Church 'Season of Remembering’, Remembrance Sunday, Children’s Grief Awareness Week and National Grief Awareness Week
- Helping people find support in the lead-up to and over Christmas - often one of the hardest times of year for those who are grieving
- Sparking conversations about death and bereavement
- Promoting the importance of support.
This event is open to everyone. Whether you are familiar with AtaLoss or joining us for the first time, you are very welcome to join us for this service.
We look forward to welcoming you.
