About this Event

Sprockets/Selvage/Shores :Center for Research & Study Graduate Student Conference

Join us on April 3rd + 4th for an exciting series of academic panels, screenings, and workshops across a variety of contemporary approaches and topics on the theme of Sprockets/Selvage/Shores. The conference will include presentations from current students and recent alumni from institutions across the country and beyond.

We will be welcoming Emily Johnson as the keynote speaker. (RSVP required for access)

Sponsored by the Center for Research & Study at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, the graduate student conference is organized by the joint effort of students at the departments of Performance Studies, Art & Public Policy, and the Martin Scorsese Department of Cinema Studies. Sprockets/Selvage/Shores foregrounds what happens in the periphery to think through the hidden history and stories that are often neglected in cultural criticism and academia. By attending to the margins, this conference strives to better understand and subvert the hegemonic power dynamics embedded in our social structure.

The Graduate Student Conference was also made possible with support from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, and Dean Rubén Polendo.

NYU Tisch School of the Arts provides reasonable accommodations to people with disabilities. Requests for accommodations should be made at least two weeks before the date of the event when possible. Request disability accommodations here.

Please note: The conference is free, but an RSVP is required for entrance to the NYU buildings. RSVPing confirms access to the NYU Tisch building for both days of the conference.
