Join herbalist Flora Scott for a walk and workshop to learn about the wild plants growing at Oakbrook Farm to support health this spring.
About this Event

On this hands-on workshop and educational herb walk, you will explore and learn all about the wild spring plants growing around Oakbrook Farm that can support our health this season after the colder, darker months of winter. Learn how to safely work with local medicinal plants to craft your own 'spring tonic' and loose-leaf herbal tea blend.

During the first part of the morning, we will head out for a herb walk on the farm, where you will learn about the wild plants that can be used as medicine and food to benefit our health this spring. You will learn about the traditional uses of key spring herbs, their medicinal actions and uses in current herbal medicine practice, as well as how to safely identify and sustainably forage wild plants for making your own medicine. Various herbal preparations will be sampled on the walk.

In the second half of the session, you will be guided on how to craft your own ‘spring tonic’, working with freshly foraged plants gathered on our walk. Participants will also be guided on how to blend a bespoke loose-leaf spring tea, working from a selection of dried herbs.

Refreshments will be provided during the morning, and there will be lots of opportunities to ask questions, as well as the chance to browse useful books and other herbal resources.

Participants all receive a handout of spring remedies and recipes to take home.

All materials are provided, just turn up and enjoy!

No prior knowledge or experience of herbal medicine is necessary for this event.
