With a career spanning over six decades, Mankowitz has created some of the most iconic imagery in music history, photographing artists from The Rolling Stones to Kate Bush. In this conversation, he reflects on the stories behind his work and the creative process of crafting enduring album imagery.
He will be joined by…
- Nick Heyward, singer-songwriter and frontman of Haircut One Hundred
- David Grant MBE, of chart-topping duo Linx, later a successful solo artist and renowned vocal coach
- Bill Smith, legendary designer of more than 3,000 album covers, from Ella Fitzgerald to the Rolling Stones
The discussion will be moderated by Paul Gorman, acclaimed journalist, curator, and author of Granny Takes a Trip: High Fashion & High Times at the Wildest Rock ‘n’ Roll Boutique and The Wild World of Barney Bubbles: Graphic design & The Art of Music.
The event coincides with the launch of Mankowitz’s new book, Photographs, a landmark publication celebrating his extraordinary six-decade career.
Mankowitz’s work will also be on exhibition at Iconic Images Gallery, Piccadilly from 17 April – 18 May.
