About the Event: Join us this April for our MHA Speaker Series with with Amy B. Saeva, BS, CASAC, and Darlene O’Brien, MA
Specialty courts play an important role in connecting individuals involved in the justice system with the mental health and substance use services they need. This session will explore how problem-solving courts work, their impact on individuals and families, and how they help address unmet behavioral health needs in our community. Attendees will gain insight into how these collaborative courts support recovery, accountability, and improved outcomes for participants.
About Amy B. Saeva, BS, CASAC: Amy B. Saeva, BS, CASAC, is a Project Director for the 7th Judicial District’s Problem-Solving Courts. In this role, she oversees courts across Cayuga, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Seneca, Steuben, Wayne, and Yates counties, supervising operations, program development, and the implementation of new courts.
Amy has been with the NYS Unified Court System since 2007. Previously, she served as the Monroe County Mental Health Court Resource Coordinator and supervised the Rochester Drug Treatment Court and SAFE Court (Human Trafficking Intervention Court). She has also held roles as a case manager and resource coordinator for Livingston County Treatment Court and as a resource coordinator for Monroe County DWI Court.
Before joining the court system, Amy worked as a Diversion Counselor at Pre-Trial Services Corp and as an Intake Counselor at Huther Doyle, an outpatient treatment agency. She holds a bachelor’s degree in health science with a concentration in alcohol and substance abuse studies from SUNY Brockport and is a New York State Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor.
About Darlene O’Brien, MA: Darlene O’Brien, MA, is a Resource Coordinator for the 7th Judicial District’s Problem-Solving Courts, including JDP (felony drug court), DWI Court, Veteran’s Treatment Court, and the Opiate Stabilization Part (OSP). She has been with the NYS Unified Court System since 2020.
Previously, Darlene served as a Resource Coordinator in Monroe County Mental Health Court, Livingston County Treatment Court, and Hornell City Treatment Court. Before joining the Unified Court System, she worked for nearly 20 years with Rochester Regional Health as an addiction counselor, supporting adolescents and women in residential treatment, working in adult outpatient services, and serving as a liaison to treatment courts.
Darlene holds a bachelor’s degree in health science with a concentration in alcohol and substance abuse studies from SUNY Brockport and a master’s degree in organizational leadership from Medaille College.
