Join Robin B. Williams, professor and Chair of the Architectural History Department at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) for an exclusive walking tour of Ardsley Park and Chatham Crescent. This tour will provide an in-depth look at the incredible and architecturally significant homes in the Ardsley Park/Chatham Crescent Historic District, which boasts houses dating from 1910 through the 1930s. Architectural styles found in the District include Neo-Classical, Colonial Revival, Dutch Colonial, Tudor Revival, Arts and Crafts, Mediterranean, Spanish Revival and Prairie Styles. Many of the houses were designed by notable Savannah architects such as Henrik Wallin, Hyman Witcover, Henry Urban, Olaf Otto, E. Lynn Drummond, Percy Sugden, and John LeBey. Participants will also learn more about the history and conception of both Ardsley Park and Chatham Crescent, including the unique urban planning, design, and landscape features that contribute to the area’s special character.
This tour will meet in the center of Kavanaugh Park. Space is limited. Participants must be comfortable walking over a mile. This tour will last between 1.5 - 2 hours.
