City of Savannah Youth Poetry Slam
The Deep Center will be hosting four first-ever City-Wide Youth Poetry Slam, where voices ages 13-18 from across the southern region take center stage for an unforgettable night of spoken word. Featuring a headlining performance and workshop from nationally recognized slam poet Nathan Wallace, this event brings together powerful storytelling, live competition, and space for young artists to be seen and heard. Whether youβre stepping up to compete or pulling up to support, this is where poetry comes alive.
Workshop

Poetry Workshop: Zoom in, Zoom out
Host: Nathan Wallace
Info: The art of connecting the most microscopic details to much larger systems enveloping them . Through this workshop inspired by the wonderful Gretchen Carvehal , participants will hone their imagery to the extreme. They will be able to describe in vastness even the most mundane or smallest detail as if it in itself is massive, then be able to discuss it in relation to its space in the world around it and the deeper meanings that reside as a result.
Prelims

Preliminary Bouts
Info: The public is free to join the first rounds of the slam. Young poets take turns performing their poems, and judges score the poets to determine who moves on to the final stage.
Final Stage
π: 05:30 PM - 07:30 PM
Final Stage Competition
Info: FREE and open to the public, the Final Stage is where the top poets from the preliminary bouts perform for the championship.
