South Hampstead Debate Academy Summer Camp for Year 5 and 6

Take part in an amazing debate academy summer camp at South Hampstead High School with games, practice and instruction, culminating in a full day competition on the final day!
Tuesday 4th, Wednesday 5th & Thursday 6th August.

9am to 3.30pm each day (option for early drop-off at 8.30am)

Info: Our experienced debate coaches and teachers will start the day with public speaking and debating games, letting the students get to know one another and having them practice their speaking in an exciting and dynamic way. Then we will alternative some instruction (how to come up with points if stuck, the legs of a good argument) with a lot of practice debates!

Info: There's still plenty of time for some public speaking games, but on day two will continue with some skill instruction from our coaches, covering how to respond to other teams arguments through rebuttal and points of information as well as some techniques for analysing arguments such as chunking. As always, plenty of practice.

Info: Day three is COMPETITION DAY. Students will be put into teams and compete in a series of debates, with the teams who win the most debates getting some delicious prizes. It is not a knockout, so all students will spend the day debating, even if they lose some debates. Debates are judged by our experienced team of high school and university debaters, topics will be fun and accessible, but designed to challenge.
